March Art Journal Page Swap

 The theme of the pages I needed to make for March was "home".  I used stencils by Stencil Girl, Tim Holtz, and The Crafter's Workshop with acrylic paint.  On the home sweet home page, I used a Tim Holtz die and Tim Holtz label letters. On the heart makes a good home page, I started out with a gelli print, put down the women mask and sponged black paint around the mask.  After that, I put another stencil down over the mask and sponged gold paint. I used a white signo pen and black Fude ball pen. I had fun making these pages!  Thanks for taking a peek at my pages!

Another Christmas Card Design

I made the background using my gelli plate, acrylic paint and stencils.  The word stencil came with the Dina Media Christmas bird stamps.  I stamped the birds on watercolor paper with black ink and clear embossed.  After cutting them out, I used watercolors and a water brush to color the images.  The "hello december" is from the Tim Holtz small talk occasions.  I added some washi tape with jewels for the bird to stand on.  I added glitter glue to the white portion and puff on the Santa hat.  I hope you're having fun making your own Christmas cards and thanks for coming by my blog today!

You'll Never Know Art Journal Page

I can't draw.  I've had a DVD from Julie Fei-Fan Balzer around for a while "All About Faces."  I watched it last night and decided to give it a go! The tag on this spread is the second face I tried to paint.  It's not great art, but at least you can tell it's a face!  I am encouraged to continue experimenting and trying to draw/paint faces.  Thanks for coming by the blog!

Playing with a Gelli Plate

I've had my 6"x6" gelli plate for quite a while.  I haven't done much with it.  My first attempts were not successful.  I found an online class at http://balzerdesigns.typepad.com/  Julie has all sorts of online classes.  She's an amazing artist.  Last night I watched a few of the videos from Julie's online gelli place class and started playing. These are done on deli paper available at Amazon.com.   The deli paper is translucent.    I used acrylic paints and stencils.  I cut little masks out of paper or chipboard.  I highly recommend this class if you're unsure how to get started with your gelli plate.  My prints will be perfect for an art journal or ATC backgrounds.
