Playing with a Gelli Plate

I've had my 6"x6" gelli plate for quite a while.  I haven't done much with it.  My first attempts were not successful.  I found an online class at http://balzerdesigns.typepad.com/  Julie has all sorts of online classes.  She's an amazing artist.  Last night I watched a few of the videos from Julie's online gelli place class and started playing. These are done on deli paper available at Amazon.com.   The deli paper is translucent.    I used acrylic paints and stencils.  I cut little masks out of paper or chipboard.  I highly recommend this class if you're unsure how to get started with your gelli plate.  My prints will be perfect for an art journal or ATC backgrounds. Thanks for stopping by!

Last Two Mini Cabinet Card Frames for the Swap

Here are the last two mini cabinet card frames for the swap.  I think my favorite one is the last one - the woman with flowers for her hair.  Thanks for stopping by.

Altered Mini Cabinet Card Frame

I'm going to host an altered mini cabinet card swap at the Collage Stuff Yahoo Group in April.  This is a sample that I created.  First I stamped the frame with a Tim Holtz doily stamp using brown archival ink.  It looked too busy, so what to do about that? I glued down some bits of a vintage sewing pattern. It still looked too brown, so I swiped some magenta archival ink on the pattern pieces.  Tiny mother of pearl buttons were glued down next. The background paper is from the "Garment District" 6x6 paper pack by Marion Smith.  The woman image is my very favorite woman image.  She's on the "Fabulous Faces" collage sheet.  I opened one of the Flutter collage sheets into graphic editing software and made a butterfly pink.  Everything to make this altered cabinet card is available at Collage Stuff except for the ink pads and paper pack.  Thanks for stopping by!

Easter Tag Swap

The March swap at the Collage Stuff Yahoo Group is an Easter tag swap!  Here's my first tag.  I purchased the background papers at Etsy.  I used four different Victorian scrap sheets available at Collage Stuff, 7389,7222,7408, and 7373.  The tiny photo of the girl with the Easter bunny may be found on the Collage Stuff Easter Greetings collage sheet. The Collage Stuff Red Border Label collage sheet is all blank red border labels.  I opened this in my graphics editing software and added the words "Easter Greetings."  This collage sheet is perfect to make custom red border labels. The brass nest with eggs is available at Collage Stuff as well as the white and red lace.  The 3.5" white paper doilies are also available at Collage Stuff. Almost forgot about the Red Fleur Border German scrap and vintage text from Collage Stuff.
I like to scan in the Victorian scraps.  This allows me to resize them and print them at just the size I need for my art.

Postage Stamp ATC Swap

The February swap at the Collage Stuff Yahoo group has a postage stamp theme - use a postage stamp in your art design.  Here's my entry.  I used a vintage ledger page for the background.  Three Tim Holtz layering stencils (honeycomb, dot fade, and schoolhouse) were used.  I used a postage stamp from the Collage Stuff "Airmail" collage sheet.  The other images are from Crow About Studio B at the Deviant Scraps website.  Thanks for stopping by!

Gothic Arch Swap

The January swap at the Collage Stuff Yahoo Group is a Nature's Beauty Gothic Arch swap.  I created two templates for everyone to use.  I used old phone book pages for the background.  The Victorian scrap birds/flowers and vintage buttons are available at Collage Stuff.  The letter cards are Tim Holtz alpha cards.  Three more to do!  Thanks for stopping by!
