May Tag Swap

The May swap at the Collage Stuff Yahoo Group is a rubber stamped tag swap, meaning to use at least one rubber stamped image in the art.  I made my usual background on vintage text or sheet music using stencils and acrylic paint. I used a text stamp in the background as well.  I used glitter bead gel through stencils as the final background layer, but it's hard to see in the photos.  The stamped images are from Dylusions colored with glaze pens, metallic gelly roll pens and colored pencils.  The stamped image are popped up.  The little flowers are old chipboard buttons from Maya Road embellished with a white Signo pen.  Thanks for coming by my blog today!

August Art Journal Page Swap

For my August art journal page, the recipient's theme is "silly birds".  On this page, I glued down an old dictionary page, and used a circle stencil with Dylusions green and orange paint.  The yellow is Dina Media paint.  I used a Stencil Girl word stencil here and there.  I applied a light orange washi tape in several places.  The birds are from the Tim Holtz Bird Crazy stamp set.  I colored them with watercolors.  I used a Dina Media stencil with glitter bead gel.  Love that stuff!  The saying is from Dylusions.

This page is all Dina Media - stamps, paint and stencils.  The hearts are cut from a vintage book.  I used an orange inktense pencil and a yellow china marker for highlighting some of the elements. The birds are painted with the Dina Media paints.  I used an alphabet stamp that is NOT Dina Media for a little texture.  Thanks for coming by my blog!

Here's another art journal spread for Lin's journal.  I got in some new stencils from Stencil Girl - Klimt Trees and Rembrandt's Words - and was ready to play with them.  The images are from Crow About Studio B at the Mischief Circus website.  Thanks for coming by my blog!

Simplicity Art Journal Spread

This is an art journal spread that will be glued into Lin's art journal.  She still has her journal, but I am in the mood to create.  I used stencils from Stencil Girl, The Crafter's Workshop, Dina Wakley, and Joggles.  The large flowers are Victorian scrap.  I have been away from home for my nephew's graduation.  It's good to be home and to be able to create.  Thanks for coming by my blog.

Frida Tag

At the Collage Stuff Yahoo Group, the May swap is a Frida tag swap.  This is my design.  I started out with the smaller tag - stenciling color with Dylusions paint and stencils from various manufacturers.  I added some glitter bead gel on the left side of the small tag using a leaf stencil.  My plan was to add the Frida image in the die cut frame.  The framed image was a little big for the tag, so I put the whole thing on a bigger tag.  I gelli printed the big tag and overstamped it with a text stamp.  The paper flowers were white so I painted them with the same yellow used on the small tag.  The frame was also overstamped with the text stamp.  I used versafine ink and it smeared a little on top of the painted die cut, but that's OK.  The word and phrase are Tim Holtz stickers.  Thanks for coming by my blog!

Standards Art Journal Spread

This is another art journal spread in Lin's journal.  The base of the pages are vintage phone book pages.  I added some stenciled deli paper done in red tones with glitter bead gel added for texture.  It was too bright, so I toned it down with white paint.  In the middle of spread, I used a flower stencil with red paint, toned down the red with white paint, stamped in black and more white paint over the black stamping.  The woman image is from Tim Holtz.  The woman images were colored with Copic markers and a red glitter gel pen.  The words are a Dylusions stamp.  Thanks for coming by my blog!
